Ryan: Thanks, sweetie. I love you.
Jenny: I love you more.
Ryan: That’s not possible.
(they kiss and Jenny leaves)
Ryan: (to Esposito, Castle, and Beckett) I know, I know, I know. We’re nauseating.
Beckett: You’re bringing a date?
Castle: I am.
Castle: Oh, well, she’s beautiful, she’s intelligent, she’s funny, and the way she smiles at me sometimes just melts my heart. It’s Alexis.
Castle: So, he’s naked.
Castle: Well, it is pretty cold out. If this was a suicide, wouldn’t you rather be warm and toasty on your way down to your certain yet, citrus-y death?
Beckett: Looks like he did the deed before taking the dive.
Castle: Last item on your bucket list?
Castle: She’s a black widow, coldest hearted creature on earth. She lures an unsuspecting male, takes him into her web, and then, the moment they culminate, as soon as he feels the ecstasy of achieving his biological destiny, she opens up her jaws and eats him alive.
Ryan: I’m glad I’m in a healthy relationship.
Castle: I’ll bet male black widow spiders think they’re in healthy relationships too.
Alexis: There’s always poison.
Martha: True. Watch him writhe then suffer.
Alexis: Die like the rodent he is.
Castle: Wow. All these years writing about murderers, I had no idea I was living among them.
Castle: Even their hypothetical fury is unnerving. William Congreve had it right when he talked about scorned women.
Beckett: Yeah, well, you haven’t heard what I would do.
Castle: Yeah, I don’t think I ever wanna know.
Castle: It’s the like the beginning of The Bachelor, but without the appletinis.
Beckett: Bailey was involved with all of them?
Ryan: Uh, yeah. And each of them thought that they were his one and only.
Castle: That’s lot of a scorned women and a lot of fury.
Beckett: Alright, unless you guys are enjoying the Warhol-esque quality of this, we can just shut it down.
Castle: He really was Jason Bourne!
Beckett: You gotta be kidding me.
Castle: Can’t you see it? Bailey is in covert ops. They placed him at a giant multi-national company, Global 12 Consolidated, as a cover. Then, a month ago, they activate him. They give him an alias, a backstory. They give him unlimited walking around money. And then, somehow, the enemy gets to him. They grab him off the streets. He manages to escape so they exploit his Achilles heel: his love of beautiful women. They send in a super-sexy secret agent. She seduces him and then kills him by feeding him a poison protein shake.
Beckett: I can’t think of anything better. (sighs)
Esposito: I was this close to getting my plus one.
Castle: Hey, relax man. It happens to a lot of guys. Get a little excited, lose control of your steamer.
Man: You know, you have some beautiful eyes.
Man: What? It’s a numbers game. I strike out ninety percent of the time.
Beckett: Thus, restoring my faith in my gender.
Esposito: I don’t know what this dude Bailey was into, but whatever it is, he had it goin’ on!
Ryan: Really? This impresses you? These women are pathetic for falling for this guy. And Bailey? Bailey was just a con man and a liar.
Beckett: Thank you! At least there is one real man amongst us. Ryan, why don’t you take The Situation down to The Magic Bottle and see if we can get an ID on Lisa.
Castle: So, what are we gonna do?
Beckett: About what?
Castle: Well, we have to tell Ryan about Jenny.
Beckett: What?! Why? Castle, if we were getting married would you want to know about all the guys that I’ve slept with?
Beckett: Seriously? You sign women’s chests at book readings, you cannot be shocked that I’m not a virgin.
Castle: It’s just the word “all” suggests “a lot.” How many we talkin’ exactly?
Beckett: Are you really asking for my number?
Castle: You show me yours, I’ll show you mine.
Beckett: Men, you all wanna know, but you don’t wanna know. Listen, every woman has her secrets including Jenny and sometimes for the sake of a relationship, it is better not to share.
(Beckett and Castle break up a fight between Ryan and Esposito)
Beckett: Guys! What the hell is going on?!
Esposito: Talk to Hunger Strike over here!
Ryan: He was flaunting that donut!
Esposito: I was eating it!
Castle: Yeah, she’s going from mud wrap to murder rap, exfolitation to interrogation, manicure to manacles, shiatsu to…shiatsu.
Beckett: That’s espionage.
Castle: More like sex-pionage.
Beckett: You’ve got the posture of a feral cat.
Ryan: Guys, I made a sacred vow to the woman I love. Is that mu shu pork?
Ryan: I’m just glad I’m out of the game.
Castle: No, the games are only beginning for you, my friend.
Esposito: Toby, huh?
Lanie: What do you mean ‘Toby, huh?’
Esposito: I don’t know. You tell me.
Lanie: You and I broke up two months ago, so unless you thought I joined a convent, you need to take a step back.
Esposito: So you two serious now?
Lanie: Yeah, we’re serious – about dancing. That’s why his boyfriend let me borrow him. Besides, I figured I’d need somebody to keep me company while you flirted with all of Jenny’s sorority sisters.
Esposito: Toby’s boyfriend?
Lanie: And I seem to recall you here with the center for the New York Liberty.
Esposito: She’s my cousin. I heard you were coming with a date so I thought I had to have somebody…You look great, you know.
Lanie: Yeah, I know.
Esposito: Can I show you to your seat?
Lanie: That would be nice.
Beckett: Castle, you look like a lost puppy. Where’s your date?
Castle: At a Lady Gaga concert with a teenage boy. How do I compete with that?!
Castle: I hate going to weddings alone.
Beckett: Well, maybe we could be each other’s plus one.
Castle: Yeah! And then avoid the stigma of sitting at the singles table. Yes, that would be nice.
Ryan: Hey! I’m so glad you’re here.
Beckett: Where else was I gonna be? You look fantastic.
Esposito: We clean up pretty nice, huh?
(Castle spies Jenny in her dress)
Castle: Oh Jenny, you look amazing.
Jenny: Thank you, Rick.
(Ryan begins to turn to look at her, but Beckett catches him)
Beckett: No, no, no, no, no! You can’t see her yet.
Castle: Kevin, you are a lucky man.
Ryan: Don’t I know it.
Castle: You know, I gotta say. I kinda envy him.
Beckett: Oh, who knows, Castle? Maybe third time’s the charm.
Castle: Yeah. Could be.
- In advance of the episode's air date, Ryan and Jenny set up their own website announcing the event.
- Of shooting the episode, Stana Katic said “I loved being able to see Juliana walk in with her wedding gown, because it was the kind of gown that she wanted when they were young actors getting married but they didn’t have the finances they needed to make the wedding as large as maybe it would have been in their dreams. This was a chance to kind of do a ‘second take,’ and it was fantastic to be a part of that real-life experience as well as that ‘movie-life’ experience.”

Full Episode Recap
A young woman browses for fruit at an outside stand when a young man approaches her and flirtatiously offers her a fresh pineapple. As they talk, a body drops from above and lands on the crates of fruit in front of them.
Meanwhile, in the precinct break room, Richard Castle teases Detective Kevin Ryan about the green liquid he is drinking. His fiancée, Jenny, explains it is part of a spiritual and physical cleanse they are doing before their wedding where they go without food, but only drink lime juice and water. She excuses herself to meet her mother and she and Ryan kiss sweetly, right in front of Detective Javier Esposito. Ryan then says he knows they are gross, but Esposito says he is looking forward to meeting some of Jenny’s sorority sisters at the wedding. Ryan tells him that Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Esposito’s ex-girlfriend, RSVP’ed that she is bringing a guest and Esposito immediately grows jealous, even though Beckett promises to dance with him since she isn’t bringing anyone. Esposito’s cell phone rings and he steps away to answer it. Ryan then asks Castle about his guest, arousing Beckett’s intense curiosity. Castle teases, but eventually admits it is Alexis, his daughter. Esposito returns and says they have a murder.
At the scene, Beckett asks Lanie if their victim, a young naked male, is a jumper. She isn’t sure, but says she guesses the body fell from somewhere above the seventh floor. Castle suggests it is a suicide, but Lanie points out several fresh scratch marks on the victim’s back, suggesting to Beckett that he had sex before he died. Esposito reports that two hotel clerks remember seeing a woman with long red hair leaving the hotel shortly after the man fell. Lanie hands some evidence samples to a handsome assistant, causing Esposito’s jealousy to flare. Ryan then yells down that he found the victim’s room on the eighth floor and after casting a glare at Esposito, Beckett enters the hotel.
In the hotel room, Castle recognizes Bolero playing and Beckett sees lipstick on the bed pillow, confirming their suspicion about sex. Ryan identifies the victim as Michael Bailey, a finance analyst at Global 12 Consolidated and says the room was booked under a fake name and paid for in cash. Castle guesses their killer is a Black Widow and describes how such spiders lure unsuspecting males close, then kill them. Ryan relaxes, secure that he is in a healthy relationship, and Beckett agrees. She then finds a wine glass with a fingerprint on it.
Later on, Beckett interviews lawyer Holly Franklin. She denies the murder, says their victim’s name is Jake Hendricks, that he worked in his parents’ business, and they were in love, despite having met that night. Beckett corrects her on the name, and Holly further explains that after they had sex, Bailey felt sweaty and dizzy. He opened up the window to get some air and fell, and in a panic, she left.
During the interview, Ryan and Esposito watch from the observation room. Esposito asks Ryan to find out the name of Lanie’s date to his wedding and he agrees to text Jenny to find out.
In the morgue, Lanie says Bailey was poisoned by an overdose of a drug for rheumatism and that she estimates he ingested the poison between 4 and 6p.m. Castle recalls that would have been roughly an hour before he met Franklin. Lanie adds that the drug was hidden in a chocolate protein shake to mask the taste and that tests results show he had sex with two women before he died.
Back at the precinct, Ryan breaks this news to Holly, who is embarrassed and angry. She says there wasn’t anyone else with her and Bailey and adds that she now wishes she had pushed him to his death. Ryan tells Beckett he believes her, but Beckett asks him to solidify her alibi before they release her. They head to the murder board wondering who Bailey was with when he was poisoned. Esposito joins them, munching on a donut to Ryan’s dismay, and says Bailey had no parents and no family, meaning he lied to Franklin and Castle suspects it was simply his way of hooking women. Ryan suspects Bailey’s other woman is their killer and Beckett tells him and Esposito to check Bailey’s phone records to find her.
The next morning, Castle greets his mother, Martha Rodgers, and Alexis in the kitchen of his loft. He asks them what each of them would do if they found out the man they were dating was cheating on them, and after suggesting a knife to the heart or a shooting, they eventually agree they would poison him, slightly scaring Castle. Martha then asks Castle for his credit card, saying she and Alexis plan to go shopping for the dress she will wear to Ryan’s wearing.
At the precinct, Castle describes his nervousness at his daughter’s and mother’s fury and Beckett tells him he doesn’t want to know what she would do in such a situation. He agrees ignorance is bliss and they greet Ryan and Esposito at the entrance to the break room and Beckett asks about their progress in finding Bailey’s other woman. They wish her luck and open the door to reveal dozens of women all of whom thought they were dating Bailey.
Later at the murder board, Esposito says all the women knew Bailey by his real name, so he didn’t lie to them, and they all thought he was out of town since he told them he was going to Europe, but he never went. He adds that Bailey’s work told him he had been on a leave of absence for a month. Ryan joins them and says he had been scarce at his apartment too and adds that he found a fake Illinois driver’s license there under the name Jake Hendricks and $60,000 in cash. Castle puts in that the web searches on Bailey’s computer are all for fake businesses he said were his family’s. Beckett tells Ryan and Esposito to contact intelligence agencies and see if he was an agent while she and Castle talk to Bailey’s boss.
At Global 12 Consolidated, they pull Bailey’s boss, Seth Harris, out of tense negotiations over a merger. He says Bailey took leave for personal reasons and he has no idea why he would have a fake ID and a mound of cash, but guesses it is related to a woman who tried to break into his office the day before.
Later, Amy Kemp explains to Beckett that she stepped outside of the merger negotiations and saw a woman trying to pick the lock to Bailey’s office. She describes her as having exotic features and possibly being a flight attendant on an Israeli airline.
Back at the precinct, Esposito identifies the woman as Colette Roth, a flight attendant with a military background. Ryan suspects she could be a spy working for the Israeli government then sees that Jenny texted him the name of Lanie’s guest: Toby Lang. Esposito does a search and finds he is a doctor and Chief Administrator at the hospital where Lanie did her residency. Blind with jealousy, he tells Ryan to put him down as bringing a guest. His phone rings and uniforms tell him that they found Colette Roth.
In interrogation, Colette denies that she is a spy and explains to an enthralled Castle and a doubtful Beckett that she and Bailey were in love and despite his story that he was going to Europe, she kept seeing him around, so she confronted him and he told her to meet him the next day where he would explain everything. They met, but before he could explain, he was kidnapped by two men in ski masks driving a dark car. She tried to break into his office to find out what trouble he was in and didn’t report the kidnapping since the kidnappers said they would kill him if she did.
In the break room, Ryan reviews ATM camera footage of the street where Colette and Bailey met. Initially, he doesn’t see anything, then suddenly Bailey appears and Colette jumps into his arms. They watch in disbelief as Colette’s story proves to be true: two men kidnap Bailey as she tries to fight them off, elbowing one in the nose.
Later, Castle spins the theory that Bailey is a secret agent, placed at an international business firm and was activated a month ago. They kidnap him, but he escapes and is eventually killed when an attractive female assassin seduces him and poisons him. Reluctantly, Beckett admits she can’t come up with a better story and answers her ringing cell phone. After a brief conversation, she hangs up, saying all intelligence agencies deny that Bailey or Hendricks is a spy, but Castle doubts they would admit to it if he was. Ryan puts in that he used a traffic camera to get the license plate number off the car that kidnapped Bailey. It is registered to Pablo Barnes, an insurance salesman. Beckett tells them to saddle up then asks where Esposito is. Ryan points him out in the break room, flirting with a female uniformed cop. Beckett calls to him and he accidentally makes the espresso machine explode all over his would-be date.
At Barnes’ apartment, they burst inside with guns drawn and find him and another man, with a broken nose, in the process of seducing their own dates. They throw their hands up and swear they’ve done nothing wrong, while Esposito and Ryan cuff them and Castle recognizes Bolero playing like in Bailey’s hotel room.
At the precinct, Esposito and Ryan interview Pablo’s friend Max while Castle and Beckett interrogate Pablo. Both men explain that the kidnapping was an act put on to get Colette off Bailey’s back and that the three of them are pickup artists. About a month ago, Bailey stopped hanging out with them until he needed them for the fake kidnapping. They followed him afterward to a bar called The Magic Bottle where Bailey was surprised to see them. Nevertheless, he let them tag along, provided they call him, Jake, while he tried desperately to pick up an older married woman, eventually succeeding. Pablo identifies the woman merely as Lisa and says it’s a shame she’ll never make into Bailey’s book of conquests.
Back at Beckett’s desk, he and Esposito leaf through Bailey’s notebook full of hundreds of pictures and details of the women he slept with. While they drool, Beckett rolls her eyes, and they finally say that the entries end about a month ago, so Lisa isn’t listed. Ryan comes up and says Max’s and Pablo’s alibis hold then he scolds Esposito and calls Bailey a con man, impressing Beckett. She tells Ryan and Esposito to go to the bar where the guys saw Bailey pick up Lisa. Once gone, Castle asks Beckett if she remembers when Ryan and Jenny began dating. She answers around April 2009 and Castle shows Beckett Bailey’s May 2009 entry, which is of Jenny.
At The Magic Bottle, the bartender confirms Pablo and Max’s story and asks them to wait while he tracks down Lisa’s full name. Esposito spies an attractive woman and asks Ryan to be his wingman one last time so he can score a date to his wedding. Ryan is incredulous, but before Esposito can make a move, the bartender returns saying Bailey’s woman is Lisa Hill.
At the precinct, Beckett tells Castle Lisa Hill is heiress to her parents’ publishing company fortune, leading Castle to guess that Bailey failed with Holly Franklin so he struck out for bigger, wealthier game. Beckett adds that Lisa left for a spa vacation a half an hour after Bailey was poisoned and had access to the drug since her sister owns the drug company that makes it. Now Castle realizes that Bailey only used his alias with wealthy women. He and Beckett build the theory that he was extorting money from wealthy women by seducing them, and threatening to blab unless they paid him, only Lisa Hill refused and killed him. They decided to call it a night, but not before Castle wonders if they should tell Ryan about Jenny being in Bailey’s book. Beckett flatly refuses, asking Castle if he would want to know about all the guys she’s slept with if they were engaged. Intrigued, Castle promises to tell how many lovers he’s had if Beckett does the same, but she coyly refuses, saying all women have secrets that are best left undisturbed. She packs up her things and leaves.
Arriving back at his loft, he finds Alexis modeling the dress she and Martha bought and both say they scored more than the dress. They explain that after searching all day, they found the dress at a small but exclusive shop and as the owner was ringing them up, his grandson arrived to take him to dinner. He and Alexis got to talking and before they knew it, both men invited them to join them for dinner and to a black tie charity fundraiser with Lady Gaga that is the same day as Ryan’s wedding. Alexis pleads with Castle and he agrees to let her go, meaning he has no date to Ryan’s wedding.
The next morning at the precinct, Esposito, munching again on a donut, gently criticizes Ryan for abandoning him just as he was on the verge of getting a wedding date. This irritates Ryan, who reminds him he played wingman for three hours and the woman wasn’t going to bite, but Esposito disagrees, saying if he’d had his help, it might have worked out differently. Ryan again disagrees then demands that he lay off the donuts in his presence. When Esposito refuses Ryan tries to knock it out of his hands and the two struggle. Castle and Beckett emerge from getting coffee and break them up. Ryan apologizes, but refuses to give up on his cleanse. Beckett then says they are bringing in Lisa Hill.
In interrogation, Lisa admits to sleeping with Bailey but says she has no knowledge of any blackmail scheme or of drugging him. She explains that after they slept together, she caught him using her computer and figured he was stealing financial information, so she kicked him out.
Later on, Esposito confirms Lisa’s story, but says Bailey emailed himself confidential files related to the Global 12 Consolidated merger with a mining company, for which Lisa’s husband, Ron Hill, works as an investment banker. Castle now recognizes him from when they first met with Bailey’s boss, and both realize Bailey used his pickup artist skills to get close to Lisa to steal corporate secrets, meaning Ron had a motive for murder. Esposito says, however, that Ron was in negotiations at the time Bailey was poisoned and Lisa’s alibi holds as well. Ryan adds that Holly Franklin is representing the mining company, further explaining why Bailey used his alias to seduce her. Beckett tells Ryan and Esposito to get a list of all the women working for the mining company who Bailey might have also targeted. She also suspects that Bailey wasn’t working alone.
Later, she and Castle interview Bailey’s boss, Mr. Harris, who denies knowledge of Bailey’s spying, but neither believe him. Beckett demands to know where Bailey was staying and who else he targeted, but Harris refuses to say anything else and leaves.
Over a lunch of Chinese food in the conference room, Beckett notes that there is no way Bailey could have targeted every woman involved with the Global 12 and the mining company merger. Esposito enters and says they need to tell Ryan about Jenny and Bailey, but Beckett doesn’t think it’s a good idea, especially since he hasn’t eaten in days and flipped out over his eating a donut just that morning. Ryan joins them and is tortured by the Chinese food. He picks up some files and goes to head back to his desk, before Esposito stops him. They all convince him to eat and he digs in without hesitation. Esposito begins to ask him about Bailey’s book, when Ryan surprises them by saying Jenny told him about it when he told her of Bailey’s connection to the case. He adds that they weren’t exclusive at the time, so he’s not upset at all. A uniformed officer hands him a note and Ryan says he found that Bailey had been staying in corporate housing for Global 12 over the past month under his alias. Beckett tells him and Esposito to go look around and he takes a box of food with him. When they get there, Ryan finds the chocolate protein shake that was used in his poisoning.
Back at the precinct, Ryan and Esposito also say that during the time he was poisoned, Bailey had a visitor and asked not to be disturbed. They show Castle and Beckett a still taken from security camera footage and immediately recognize the woman. They interrupt the merger negotiations at Global 12 again, much to Mr. Harris’s dismay, and arrest Amy Kemp.
Around Ryan’s desk, Castle and Beckett explain that Bailey targeted Amy like he did Holly and Lisa, only she figured out what he was up to and killed him. Beckett asks Esposito about his date for the wedding, but he remains coy.
The day of the big day, Lanie enters the church and stiffly greets Esposito. She introduces Toby to both of them and Esposito introduces his date, a tall woman named Jodie, who excuses herself to find the ladies room. After a moment of awkward silence, Toby excuses himself to find seats. Esposito confronts Lanie who reveals that Toby is gay and she only invited him because he is a good dancer and would keep her company while Esposito flirted with Jenny’s sorority sisters. She then teases him about Jodie and Esposito says she is his cousin who he brought because he wanted a date since Lanie had one. Realizing his mistake, he pauses and tells Lanie she looks great. She accepts the compliment and takes his arm as he leads her to her seat.
Beckett greets Castle as he enters and he explains how Alexis is at the fundraiser with an eligible guy and Lady Gaga. Beckett suggests that they be each other’s date and he excitedly agrees. Ryan joins them and greets them all warmly just as Castle spies Jenny in her dress waiting in line to process into the church. He tells her she looks amazing and she thanks him. Ryan tries to turn to see her, but Beckett stops him. Castle tells him he is a lucky man and Ryan says he knows. Esposito walks him into the church, leaving Castle to tell Beckett he envies him. Beckett says perhaps a third marriage will be the charm for him and he agrees. He offers her his arm and he escorts her down the aisle.
