April 7, 2008 Rob Bowman announced as Director and Andrew Marlowe announced as writer for the pilot script [1]

April 25, 2008 Nathan Fillion's announced as the lead. [2] [3]

May 9, 2008 Ruben Santiago Hudson announced as the "Police Chief"[4]

January 16, 2009 ABC Press Tour discusses Castle

February 22, 2009 Castle was promoted heavily during the Oscars.[5]

Pilot Filmed

Date Currently Unknown Original 38 minute Pilot Filmed in New York

Date Currently Unknown Parts of the pilot reshot and additional scenes filmed in Los Angeles to complete aired version of the pilot.

Distributed Test Audiences

Either late July or early August, 2008 the original pilot episode of Castle was distributed to a test audience via e-Rewards. [6]

Season Renewals

May 15, 2009: Season 2 Renewal Rumoured

ABC has picked up drama "Happy Town" and "Cougar Town" to series. Additionally, midseason drama "Castle" also from ABC Studios, was renewed for a second season. ABC wouldn’t confirm any pickups until it unveils its fall schedule on Tuesday.
