Penny Johnson Gerald takes over as Victoria Gates, Captain of the 12th precinct, in season 4 after Captain Roy Montgomery was killed at the end of season 3. She brings decades' worth of experience working in television and film with her, as well as an impressive resume.

She is arguably best known for her roles on 24 as the President's nefarious ex-wife, and The Larry Sanders Show.

She was born March 14, 1961 and is married with a son.[1] Her parents were 14 and 16, respectively, when they married and had 5 children.[2]

Regarding her success, she said: "I definitely believe that you reap what you sew [sic], and I’ve been fortunate enough to be on some incredible television series where people come on as guest artists, and then they come on later as regulars. And I just thank God that I’ve been one of those people who welcomed them in with open arms and have been respectful of the fact that they are new, because right now that is happening for me. I’m the new kid on the block and everyone has been wonderful in embracing me and making me feel comfortable enough to just do my job." Also, she calls her parents and siblings her "number one supporters," and refers to herself as "a church girl," saying what she does is "a blessing."[2]
