Detective Ochoa is a fictional character in Richard Castle's Nikki Heat series of books and is based on Castle and Kate Beckett's squadmate Detective Javier Esposito. He is partnered with Detective Raley, whose inspiration is Detective Kevin Ryan, also a member of Beckett's squad.

Unlike Esposito, Ochoa is married in Heat Wave though in Naked Heat, his marriage has gone on the rocks and Heat spots him and her best friend, Medical Examiner Lauren Parry going out for breakfast.

Like Esposito, he often teases his more clumsy and naive partner.

In Heat Wave, he mentions that he is a fan of the New York Knicks basketball team.
