David Amann joined Castle in season 3 as an executive producer, and his first episode as a writer introduced the long-running Triple Killer arc. He became creator Andrew Marlowe's second-in-command, regularly writing half of the annual two-part episodes with him and also working together as a writing team on In the Belly of the Beast. When Marlowe took a back seat at the end of season 6, Amann became showrunner for season 7. He left the show at the end of that season, with Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley taking over as showrunners.
